HughesNet Commissioning Rules are used to determine which satellite your HughesNet system will need to be pointed to for service in your location at the date of activation for the equipment you are activating.  HughesNet Changes these rules from time to time to even out the number of users across the variety of satellites available.  The commissioning rules can also help you determine which satellites are available for you to move to should a loss of footprint or line-of-site issue arise, or in the event that your system is moved to a new location that the original satellite may not cover.

When your certified professional installer installs your system, he or she should be aware of the current default satellite and point your dish to that satellite, so that once your system is commissioned, he or she won't have to re-point you to a different satellite.  If you are unable to see the default satellite, your installer can contact HughesNet to request a satellite change.  He or She will probably charge additional for this service as it could take 20 - 60 minutes for this change to be processed.  You can also request that we request a satellite change with HughesNet on your behalf... see below for details!

HughesNet "Used Equipment" Account Requests

Click here to submit a HughesNet "Used Equipment" Account Request that can be used to obtain month to month internet access for your new or used DW7000 or HN7000S equipment.

This service is offered by Montana Satellite & Wireless for just $35.00 and requires no contracts or commitments other than agreement with the HughesNet policies and procedures regarding internet access, fair access policies and procedures and so on.  NOTE:  HughesNet will charge you $25 for the account setup as well. Most requests take one or two business days to process.  Your modem must be free of any and all contracts, and has to have been de-commissioned with HughesNet prior to submitting your request.

This service is offered by Montana Satellite & Wireless for just $50.00.  Most satellite change requests take one or two business days to process.

NOTE:  In order for us to submit the request, you must be pointed and peaked on the satellite you wish to move to and you will have to have completed the commissioning process with good signal quality and passing crosspole scores in order for the change to be accepted by HughesNet.  We cannot guarantee that the satellite you have requested is available at any time.  If the satellite you have selected is not available during the first change request, we will re-submit the request one time at no charge.
