"How To" for HughesNet Satellite Internet Systems
If you wish to save some $$ on your installation by installing your own pole mount (ground mount). The following instructions are meant to assist you in doing so. Please note that we cannot guarantee your installation if you install your own pole mount, but you will save some $$ in doing so.
Visit our HughesNet Photo Gallery for photos of some of our HughesNet (formerly DirecWay) installations.
If you have existing new or used equipment already installed at your home or business and need to activate it, please check out the following links for assistance:
"How To" Index:
How to Force-Range a DirecWay or HughesNet Satellite Internet System: 1. You may have to force-range your system to get it online, in fact, you SHOULD force-range your system even if it is online so that you can get the best possible connection speeds. 2. To Force-range your system, enter the following into your address bar and hit enter: 192.168.0.1/fs/advanced/advanced.html 3. This should get you into a screen with a long menu on the left. 4. Depending on the modem you have, you will look for INSTALLATION, or FORCE-RANGING. 5. When you find FORCE-RANGING, you will want to click on that, then click on START if necessary. 6. This will tell your modem to check the distance to the satellite and adjust some parameters accordingly so it can communicate properly. (This can take a few minutes!) 7. Once it says “TRANSMITTER READY” you should be good to go. 8. Close the window, and at this point I would power-cycle the modem to let the new parameters sink in. 9. You should now be online once the modem boots back up. 10. If you are not online, you will need to try again, or contact us or HughesNet for information!
