Satellite Internet systems offer high speed (broadband) Internet access to
almost anywhere with a southern view of the sky! Satellite Internet
systems bring high speed Internet access to areas where DSL, Cable Internet and
other services cannot reach by sending and
receiving Internet service via satellite. There is no need for a telephone
line, other than for support, should you need it.
Most mobile satellite Internet systems consist of a fully automatic gear or
servo driven mount that holds either a .74m, .98m, 1.0m or 1.2m satellite dish
as well as a transmitter / receiver
unit located on the satellite dish arm. The satellite receiver and mount
controller are located inside the RV, trailer, etc. and a dual run of RG6 coaxial cable
(one
for transmit, one for receive) and a control cable connects the transmitter / receiver to the
controller and modem. The modem then connects to a computer network hub or
to a wired or wireless router via an Ethernet connection.
As a general rule in satellite equipment and service... the bigger the better
usually applies. For instance... if you intend to use your satellite
Internet system for one-user casual surfing and e-mailing, then a standard
residential satellite system with the smaller dish option and the smaller
monthly service package will more than likely work fine for you. If you
require Internet access for working from home, day trading, etc., remote
connectivity, VoIP (telephone over Internet) or other Internet activity, then we
would recommend a bit bigger dish, stronger radio and faster monthly service
package.
Mobile high speed satellite Internet systems start out at around $ 4500.00 +
shipping and installation, and monthly service starts at around $ 80.00 per
month for the standard plans.
