Reports have come in that several reconditioned HT2000W modems did not get Wi-Fi settings reset back to factory settings. As a result, the default information indicated on the sticker will not allow you to connect to the modem using a Wi-Fi connection.
Hughes has provided the following instructions on the proper way to reset the HT2000W modem to factory settings. Please follow these steps:
- Locate the WPS button on the front of the unit.
2. Locate the reset button on the back of the unit under the barcode.
3. Press the WPS button on the modem, and while holding it, press and release the reset button with a paper clip or something similar. Hold the WPS button down until the LEDs on the modem’s front (except the power) begin to illuminate. Takes about 30 seconds.
4. To verify the operation was successful, log back into the Wi-Fi segment of the modem and verify that SSIDs and passwords for both the 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz channels match the labels on the back of the modem. Below is the 2.4 Ghz example.
